Of course Audrey Hepburn's vocals to Wouldn't It Be Loverly and Show Me are available on the deluxe My Fair Lady DVD. I wonder if there are more of her songs available? Actually I think her singing is pretty good. It has a freshness and honesty that is lacking in the more polished professional efforts of Marni Nixon.
I think I'd like to find out just how "dubbed" Rita Moreno was in "West Side Story". I've heard that Marni Nixon and Betty Wand both did dubbing work for Rita, but I've also heard that Rita did some of her own vocals and, from what I've seen and heard of Rita, she doesn't need dubbing. Also, what about Rita's work in "The King and I"? Was she dubbed in that film? I think "West Side Story" and "The King and I" may be very interesting to research and reassemble the vocals of the actors if they are available.
Mark, I know this isn't a vocal request but...... I have found 3 FULL TechniCOLOR clips of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers from the film The Story of Vernon & Irene Castle. I don't suppose with your usual flair and panache you could put in the music - would you?
Go into Google Videos and type Fred Astaire + Ginger Rogers dancing on stage. It is the fourth clip down. There are 2 other clips both starting with 1939 under the main screen. I have found another clip (same film) with Ginger doing Yamma Man, but the clip is too short.
This isn't really RESTORING so much, but I was wondering if Lisa Kirk's complete vocal for "Rose's Turn" on the GYPSY soundtrack album actually matches up to the footage? Would just be curious to know if it was done as an attempt to dub the film or whether they just let her sing free.
In WSS, Rita sang all of "America" but none of "A Boy Like That." Marni says she sang Rita's part in the "Quintet" - if she did, she's an amazing impersonator! I don't believe Rita ever recorded the latter two.
